Product care | Although Ondou products are intended for everyday use, they are also functional art objects and require handling with care. While the high-fired stoneware ceramic is extremely durable and can resist scratches and common damages, it is still brittle and can break when too much force is applied. Avoid exposing your pottery to sudden temperature changes, such as placing a cold dish in the microwave or a hot dish in cold water, as this can cause thermal shock and damage. |
Dishwasher safe? | Yes, but like with all hand-made objects, hand-washing is recommended. |
Microwave safe? | Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch. |
About handmade nature | Each item is handmade and shows the marks of this process, including intentional “imperfections.” The products pictured reflect the overall shape, size and color of the piece. However, each item is unique, with differences in glaze, texture and slight variations in size, shape and capacity. Colors may also appear differently depending on lighting conditions and your screen. Dimensional variations can be up to ~1cm, capacity ~50ml, and weight ~50g. |
KURINUKI CUP Nº1
€40.00
Taxes included. Shipping calculated at checkout.Kurinuki Cup Nº1 features a unique, raw, stone-like look – a blend of deeper carvings, smoother surfaces and textured clay, all brought together by a dynamic play of dark glaze. Its partly unglazed exterior exposes glimpses of dark stoneware clay, making it a one-of-a-kind statement piece.
Depending on the lighting, the cup may appear evenly black or, in the bright light, reveal hints of blue and patches of deep dark brown.
Hand-carved using the Japanese kurinuki technique, each cup is slowly shaped from a single block of clay. This intuitive, sculptural process creates a textured surface and organic form, embracing beauty in imperfection.
Each cup is slightly different and individually numbered within its batch of the Nº1 series, highlighting its unique place in the collection.
Note: The clay retains heat well, so the cup may become hot to the touch with very hot liquids. To ensure a comfortable hold, avoid filling it to the top. Take it slow, enjoy the ritual.
