| Product care | Ondou pieces are crafted as functional art objects — they are made from high-fired stoneware, which makes them durable and suitable for everyday use. With proper care, they are made to last for many years. GENERAL CARE OF CERAMICS I. Avoid sudden temperature changes. E.g. do not pour boiling water into a piece that has been stored in the refrigerator, and avoid running cold water over a very hot piece. |
| Dishwasher safe? | Yes, but handwashing is recommended. While the clay itself is dishwasher-safe, harsh dishwasher programs and detergents can affect the surface character in the long run. |
| Microwave safe? | Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch. |
| Handmade nature | Each item is handmade and shows the marks of this process, including intentional “imperfections.” The products pictured reflect the overall shape, size and color of the piece. However, each item is unique, with differences in glaze, texture and slight variations in size, shape and capacity. Colors may also appear differently depending on lighting conditions and your screen. Dimensional variations can be up to ~1cm, capacity ~50ml, and weight ~50g. |
KURINUKI CUP Nº1
€45.00
Taxes included. Shipping calculated at checkout.Kurinuki Cup Nº1 has a raw, stone-like character shaped through deep carvings. Each cup is both functional drinkware and small sculptural object, made to be used and also appreciated as a piece of art. This newest batch is strongly sculptural, so some pieces may feel slightly heavier than a typical cup — a natural result of the carving process. The surface is naturally textured, with some areas slightly rough to the touch. With regular use, these textured areas gradually become softer and smoother.
Colour varies from cup to cup. In softer lighting it appears matte black, while in stronger light it reveals deeper brown tones with a reddish warmth. From certain angles, small blue or golden speckles emerge across the surface.
Hand-carved using the Japanese kurinuki technique, each cup is slowly carved out from a single block of clay. This intuitive process creates textured surfaces and organic forms, often resulting in subtle asymmetry or non-rounded shapes — a natural part of the making process.
Each cup is slightly different and individually numbered within its batch of the Nº1 series.
