The Kurinuki Cup Nº11 brings together abstract expressionism and the art of coffee or tea drinking. Crafted from light beige clay with an unglazed exterior, it features bold, painterly strokes in blues, browns and blacks, enriched with local wild clay and sand. The interior is finished with a glossy, clear glaze.

Hand-carved using the Japanese kurinuki technique, each Kurinuki Cup Nº11 is slowly shaped from a single block of clay. This intuitive, sculptural process creates a textured surface and organic form, embracing beauty in imperfection.

Each cup is slightly different and individually numbered within its batch of the Nº11 series, highlighting its unique place in the collection.

Note: The clay retains heat well, so the cup may become hot to the touch with very hot liquids. To ensure a comfortable hold, avoid filling it to the top. Take it slow, enjoy the ritual.

Note 2: Not recommended to use in a dishwasher – the wild clay decoration may be damaged. Do not use harsh metal sponges for cleaning.

Product care

Although Ondou products are intended for everyday use, they are also functional art objects and require handling with care. While the high-fired stoneware ceramic is extremely durable and can resist scratches and common damages, it is still brittle and can break when too much force is applied.
– Avoid exposing your pottery to sudden temperature changes, such as placing a cold dish in the microwave or a hot dish in cold water, as this can cause thermal shock and damage.
– Avoid using harsh metal sponges on the highly decorated surface of the cup.

Dishwasher safe?

Not recommended – the wild clay decoration may be damaged.

Microwave safe?

Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch.
