The Swirly Mug has a clean silhouette with a sturdy, weighted presence – large (320ml) and designed for long, comfortable tea or coffee moments. Decorated using the sgraffito technique and inspired by abstract expressionism, each mug features layers of white slowly applied over black clay with hand-scratched spiral markings. The result is a shifting play of light and shadow that varies with every piece.

The unglazed exterior has a muted tone and slightly textured feel, contrasting beautifully with the glossy glazed interior.

Interior available in dark or light finish.

Product care

Although Ondou products are intended for everyday use, they are also functional art objects and require handling with care. While the high-fired stoneware ceramic is extremely durable and can resist scratches and common damages, it is still brittle and can break when too much force is applied. Avoid exposing your pottery to sudden temperature changes, such as placing a cold dish in the microwave or a hot dish in cold water, as this can cause thermal shock and damage.
Dishwasher safe?

Yes, but like with all hand-made objects, hand-washing is recommended.
Microwave safe?

Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch.
About handmade nature

Each item is handmade and shows the marks of this process, including intentional “imperfections.” The products pictured reflect the overall shape, size and color of the piece. However, each item is unique, with differences in glaze, texture and slight variations in size, shape and capacity. Colors may also appear differently depending on lighting conditions and your screen. Dimensional variations can be up to ~1cm, capacity ~50ml, and weight ~50g.
