Product care | – Although Ondou products are intended for everyday use, they are also functional art objects and require handling with care. While the high-fired stoneware ceramic is extremely durable and can resist scratches and common damages, it is still brittle and can break when too much force is applied. |
Dishwasher safe? | Yes, but be aware that the dishwasher may damage the decorated surface. Use at your own discretion. |
Microwave safe? | Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch. |

Kurinuki Matcha Bowl Nº3

Taxes included. Shipping calculated at checkout. The Kurinuki Matcha Bowl Nº3 is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece — only 1 is available. Thoughtfully crafted for the ritual of matcha mixing and drinking, it’s made using the Japanese kurinuki technique – meaning “to hollow” – and carved from a single block of heavy dark brown stoneware clay. This gives it a weighty, grounded presence and helps retain warmth, keeping your drink hot for longer. If you preheat the bowl with hot water, it will also help keep your tea warmer for even longer.
The bowl has a half-cylindrical shape, with straighter sides and a flatter bottom, making it easier to whisk matcha.
Depending on the lighting, the design of this bowl may appear evenly black or, in the sunlight, reveal hints of blue and patches of deep dark brown.
Inspired by traditional matcha bowls, it’s designed for both mixing and sipping (without a spout) – to enhance the ceremonial experience. It invites a moment of pause: to observe its unique textures, its decoration, form and to be present before your first sip.
This bowl is a unique, one-off object. If you’re interested in a similar design or a custom set, feel free to reach out to discuss bespoke options.
Can also be used as a regular small bowl – for snacks, desserts or whatever your ritual calls for.
