While the high-fired stoneware ceramic is extremely durable and can resist scratches and common damages, it is still brittle and can break when too much force is applied. |

Kurinuki Matcha Bowl Nº5 + Whisk Holder
Shipping calculated at checkout. This Kurinuki Matcha Bowl Set is a hand-carved, one-of-a-kind creation, made as a custom order. While an identical set cannot be reproduced, pre-order for a similar design or custom variations can be discussed via email.
Unlike other pottery techniques, kurinuki bowl begins with a solid block of clay. The bowl is slowly carved from a single mass of stoneware, allowing the form to emerge through subtraction rather than addition. This intuitive process creates textured, sculptural surfaces and organic asymmetry, as the material and hands guide its character.
The design features expressive painted brushstrokes in various browns and blues, with locally collected wild clay and sand inclusions.
Inspired by traditional matcha bowls, it’s designed for both mixing and sipping (without a spout) to enhance the ceremonial experience. It invites a moment of pause — to observe its textures, decoration, and form, and to be fully present before your first sip.
The holder is hand-shaped from the same dark brown stoneware clay and decorated with similar materials. It’s designed to fit a standard matcha whisk (around 6 cm in diameter when dry), with slight natural variations inherent to handmade work.
