Kurinuki Cup Nº14 is a hand-carved sculptural ceramic cup crafted using the Japanese kurinuki technique. It features a triangular form that is enhanced with a deep red glaze.

Unlike other pottery techniques, kurinuki begins with a solid block of clay. Each cup is slowly carved from a single mass of stoneware, allowing the form to emerge through subtraction rather than addition. This intuitive process creates textured, sculptural surfaces and organic asymmetry, as the material and hands guide its character. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Carved from anthracite black stoneware, the surface is defined by precise, elegant carving. When filled with a transparent liquid, the glaze reveals a subtle metallic sheen, emphasizing its sculptural presence.

Each cup is individually numbered within the limited Nº14 series.

Product care

Ondou pieces are crafted as functional art objects. While made from high-fired stoneware fired to 1220 °C — which makes them highly durable and resistant to everyday wear — they are still ceramic and can break if dropped or subjected to strong impact. With proper care, they will last for many years.
GENERAL CARE
– Avoid sudden temperature changes (thermal shock). For example, do not pour boiling water into a cup that has been stored in the fridge, and avoid running cold water over a very hot piece.
– Wash using a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive metal scrubbers, especially on decorated or textured surfaces.
– Do not leave pieces soaking in a sink with food residues for extended periods — basic good hygiene.
– Allow the piece to dry fully before storing in a closed cabinet.

Dishwasher safe?

Yes, but hand-washing is recommended

Microwave safe?
