| Product care | Ondou pieces are crafted as functional art objects — they are made from high-fired stoneware, which makes them durable and suitable for everyday use. With proper care, they are made to last for many years. GENERAL CARE OF CERAMICS I. Avoid sudden temperature changes. E.g. do not pour boiling water into a piece that has been stored in the refrigerator, and avoid running cold water over a very hot piece. |
| Dishwasher safe? | Yes, but handwashing is recommended. While the clay itself is dishwasher-safe, harsh dishwasher programs and detergents can affect the surface character in the long run. |
| Microwave safe? | Not recommended – clay is a highly conductive material and the piece will become very hot to the touch. |
| Handmade nature | Each item is handmade and shows the marks of this process, including intentional “imperfections.” The products pictured reflect the overall shape, size and color of the piece. However, each item is unique, with differences in glaze, texture and slight variations in size, shape and capacity. Colors may also appear differently depending on lighting conditions and your screen. Dimensional variations can be up to ~1cm, capacity ~50ml, and weight ~50g. |
KURINUKI CUP Nº1

It has a raw, stone-like character shaped through deep carvings. This batch leans strongly toward sculptural expression, so some pieces may feel slightly heavier than a typical cup.
The surface is naturally textured, with some areas slightly rough to the touch. With regular use, these textured areas gradually become softer and smoother. Colour varies from cup to cup. In softer lighting it appears matte black, in stronger light it reveals deeper brown tones with a reddish warmth. From certain angles, small blue or golden speckles emerge across the surface.
What is kurinuki? Unlike traditional pottery — where forms are built up from nothing — kurinuki begins with a solid block of clay. Each piece is slowly carved from a single mass of stoneware until the form reveals itself. This intuitive process creates textured, sculptural surfaces and organic asymmetry, as the material and hands guide its character. No two pieces are exactly alike.
Each cup is individually numbered on the base, marking its place within the limited Nº1 series.
